The news that biathlon legend Johannes Thingnes Bø is retiring made headlines this weekend – and contributed to a 24-hour record in ticket sales for the biathlon weekend on March 21-23.

There is little doubt that we are set for goosebump moments this weekend. And it is clear that many biathlon fans are eager to witness this historic moment.

Three days after the news broke, only Friday's race has grandstand seats available. "In the last few days, we have sold out grandstand seats for both Saturday and Sunday's races," says Stefan Marx, general manager of Holmenkollen Skifestival. "But it is still possible to catch the pursuit and mass start from kapellskogen or Haugen. Here, you get close to the athletes on the course while also catching all the details on the big screen and in the arena. VIP tickets are also still available, but there are few left for Saturday," he adds.

Marthe Bøhler, Project Manager for the IBU World Cup Biathlon at Holmenkollen Skifestival, promises a worthy conclusion for the biathlon king: "We are looking forward to seeing Johannes end an amazing career on home turf here in Kollen. We are now planning a celebration worthy of Johannes."

The main man himself is looking forward to taking one last lap in Holmenkollen: "I think it will be goosebump vibes, there will be many Norwegian flags and good competitions. I'm looking forward to retiring from elite sports together with you that weekend in March."
