This year skifestival gets a new twist – the 5000m cross-country race gets a break in favor of a fast and intensive 10km. In addition, you will see a 20km race in both the women's and men's classes on Saturday.
In other words – you can look forward to many great sporting achievements at Holmenkollen Skifestival 2025. With shorter cross-country races, the stage is set for even more action on the trail.
Cross-country skiing in a new guise
Femmila has been a central part of the skiing tradition in Holmenkollen since 1910. However, 2025 is a year of change, and as cross-country skiing moves towards shorter distances and more fast-paced races, we need to keep up.
Shorter distances also mean more variety for you as an audience. This year, the women and men will be competing on both days. That means action all day long!
CEO at Holmenkollen Skifestival , Stefan Marx, says the following about the new arrangement: “What we are especially looking forward to is being able to see both women and men on both days. In addition, there is a lot of activity in the arena all the time during the race, since it is an interval start. We are therefore looking forward to full stands and a really good atmosphere when the World Cup heroes step up in Kollen!”

The World Cup track is back
This year's 20-kilometer race also offers a long-awaited reunion for many. We promise speed and excitement when the athletes run two laps of the 10-kilometer course from the 2011 World Championships.
Wenche Berger, Project Manager for the nordic disciplines, is looking forward to seeing the trail in use again, for the first time in a World Cup context in 14 years: “It’s really fun that the cross-country skiers will finally be able to hone their skills on this trail again. Many of those who are competing now have never used this trail before, at least not in a competitive context, so we hope it will be a great experience for our athletes.”
We hope to see you again for the same fantastic Holmenkollen atmosphere, great sporting achievements and goosebumps moments – in a slightly new guise.
