Both Bø brothers end their biathlon careers in Kollen

There will be both tears and goosebumps when Johannes Thingnes Bø and Tarjei Bø take their final laps on the ski track as professional biathletes. On March 21-23 this year, you can experience the historic moment when the brothers retire their skis. 

The news that both Bø brothers are retiring has struck like a bolt from the blue in the sports world. The 2024/25 season will be the last for both, with the World Cup final in Holmenkollen as a fitting end.

A worthy finale

In Norway, we have almost become spoiled when it comes to high-performing sports families. Yet there are few who can compare to Johannes Thingnes Bø and Tarjei Bø. With a combined 8 Olympic gold medals and 31 World Championship gold medals, they will leave a void when they retire.

When the Bø brothers cross the finish line during their very last collective start in Holmenkollen, the entire biathlon family watches. Marthe Bøhler, project manager for biathlon, is looking forward to the public celebration: “For us, it is a great honor to be allowed to be part of this great moment. We are looking forward to giving Johannes and Tarjei a worthy finale, and to sharing it with the audience and volunteers in Kollen .” 

Johannes Thingnes Bø is also looking forward his last races in Holmenkollen: “I think there will be goosebumps, lots of Norwegian flags, and great competitions. I am looking forward to finishing my career together with all of you that weekend in March.” says the biathlon king himself.

24-hour record for ticket sales after news

A new 24-hour record for ticket sales was reached after the announcement of Johannes Thingnes Bø's retirement. More than 3,000 tickets were sold in 24 hours. With news of Tarjei Bø joining his brother in retirement, the interest did not diminish.

Although the grandstand seats sold out in record time, it is still possible to obtain tickets. At Haugen and in Kapellskogen You get up close to the athletes on the track, while you can see all the details on the big screen and in the arena.
