Holmenkollen will be the final host of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon for the upcoming three seasons, the International Biathlon Union has decided.

The biathlon family loves to come to Holmenkollen. There is an experienced organising committee guaranteeing great competitions, the volunteers perform greatly and the logistics work very well. When you add the fantastic atmosphere with a knowledgable and enthusiastic audience in a legendary arena, you definitely get a worthy final of a long and exciting season, says IBU President Olle Dahlin.

Holmenkollen has hosted the Biathlon World Cup finals twice before. However, it has now been decided that Norway’s national arena will house the finals annually until 2022.

The CEO of Holmenkollen Skifestival, Mrs. Kristin Vestgren Sæterøy, has been responsible for the World Cup in biathlon for the past three years. The event gathered nearly 27,000 spectators last time, and consisted of four competition days. Next year’s finale will take place 20-22 March.

Internationally, Holmenkollen is an iconic arena – and not just for ski jumping and cross-country skiing. The arena is constantly developing in close cooperation with the municipality, it is improved annually with new improvements. IBU’s decision creates predictability for us, the municipality and our partners”, says Vestgren Sæterøy.

Ticket sales for next year’s biathlon final will start on September 26th.
